Mission

By means of an active form of art education, Piazza dell’Arte wants to hone, deepen and explore the ability of young people to experience art in its many forms. Not only to give an extra push to the art and culture participation of young people but also to encourage cognitive, social and emotional skills. After all, Piazza dell'Arte considers art education as a never ending story. We distinguish ourselves in the field of art education by a well-considered and methodical approach, which places the focus on the creative process that the youngsters experience rather than the final artistic result.

As an art educational organisation, art keeps remaining a central position throughout our projects. But Piazza dell’Arte would like to emphasise that art and culture are both a means and a result to strive for. Art is namely a means of promoting other social skills such as self-confidence, self-assurance, problem solving skills, social skills, tolerance, equality, collaboration, communication, etc. So during every project we search for the right balance between process and result. Our experience on the field has taught us that a positive process results in a breeding ground for young creative talent.

Learning from, about and with arts via an organisation like that of Piazza dell’Arte, shall remain an important pillar in our society in the long term. Cultural participation and the direct consequences thereof shall remain relevant social issues. The link between cultural participation and a competent population which is conscious of and active in its social responsibilities, has moreover been demonstrated repeatedly. Therefore it remains important that we bring young people in contact with art in an active manner, so that they grow up to be responsible, tolerant citizens who can make a relevant contribution to society by imagination, critical attitude and creativity.
